Top Half Rock 'n' Roll Clubs'
Fun Challenge
Hamilton
Saturday 18th February 2012

Gerry and Sue have all the details. Please contact them asap. Phone 296 8061
This is the annual social get-together of most Rock and Roll Clubs north of Taupo and a field of 10 members from each club is required to contest the games/competitions. Saturday am is the challenge between the clubs. It is usually held outdoors and you are quite likely to get a bit wet! Saturday evening is the dance competition where you dance with one of your own team - drawn out of a hat.
Last year Auckland RnR Club participants stayed in cabins at Hamilton City Motor Camp where we held our own social on the Friday night. We need to know how many members are interested so we can book asap.

Cooly Rocks On, the rock and roll festival that replaced Wintersun on the Gold Coast last year, will be back again in 2012 thanks to the backing of the local business community. The new management committee includes representatives from the local Chamber of Commerce, hotel operators, business owners and the tourist bureau. Tweed Shire Council, Destination Tweed and Events Queensland have also come on board with funding.

Even though this year the Queen's Birthday will
be celebrated on the first Monday in October in Queensland, Premier Anna Bligh has announced a special one-off "Queen's Diamond Jubilee holiday" on Monday 4th June 2012 to allow community events, including Cooly Rocks On, to continue without disruption
.

Cooly Rocks On is a 50s and 60s based nostalgia festival run over the borders of Coolangatta and Tweed Heads every June. The festival consists of a car show of 1200+ hot rods, custom and classic cars and Rock 'n Roll, Rockabilly and Swing entertainment over 11 days. Cooly Rocks On also delivers a surf precinct in Kirra and is made up of many shows, displays and fun for all the family. The festival is free to enter and the program builds up over the year to bring visitors a very popular event visited by over 50,000 people.

There is much to see and do over the first 8 days, all building to a Grand Finale weekend where the streets are closed down, over 8 outdoor stages are erected, over 200 market stalls go up and the program is packed full from sun-up to sun-down.

Also this year ticket prices have been reduced, so if you go online and book the early-bird tickets most will be under $20.
